Location: On Norton Sound on the south side of the Seward Peninsula, 510 air miles north of Anchorage.

Climate: Average January temperatures range from -3 degrees F to 12 degrees F. In July, temperatures range from 45 degrees F to 60 degrees. Nome usually gets about 15 inches of rainfall each year, and about 55 inches of snowfall. The snow starts falling in October. The last snowfall of the season is usually in April.

Visitor Facilities: A number of hotels, bed and breakfasts, restaurants, grocery stores, plenty of shops, museum, library, tours, flightseeing, and more. Nome also has rental cars and taxicab service.
