Shaktoolik

Bering Air operates regular passenger and cargo flights to the village of Shaktoolik.

Population: 232 (2002)

Location:Shaktoolik is located on Norton Sound at the mouth of the Shaktoolik River, 100 miles southeast of Nome and 435 miles northwest of Anchorage.

Climate:Subarctic with considerable maritime influences. Winters are cold and dry. Summer temperatures average 47 to 52 degrees F and winter temperatures average -4 to 11 degrees F.

Visitor Facilities: There are two stores, the ANICA Store and Shaktoolik Corporation Store. There is a washeteria in town. Lodging is available at the Sunny Polarbear Lane B&B (907)955-2487.
